Osteo Symposium 2018

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to the 2018 Bone Curriculum Symposium organised by the KBVR / SRBR Osteoporosis and Fracture Prevention Group at La Hulpe on 2 - 3 March 2018.

The bone curriculum is a structured lecture cycle on bone, from bench to bedside. It includes calcium and phosphate metabolism, bone biology, physiology, pathophysiology, and disorders, osteoporosis, epidemiology, diagnosis, management and treatment. Further, interactions of the skeleton with the neurological and muscular system as well as fracture and fall risk are in the scope.

A lecture cycle is covered within three consecutive yearly symposia. The bone curriculum course certificate is accredited to participants of three symposia.

The intention of the bone curriculum is to provide high quality continuous education for clinicians of all specialities interested in, seeing or treating patients with osteoporosis and / or bone diseases. Is also a dedicated educational programme for rheumatology and other bone-interested trainees. The lectures mainly cover up-to-date basic knowledge, overviews and reviews. Interactive participation is encouraged.

8 hrs radioprotection full courses, required to obtain the permission to perform bone densitometry with DXA, are organised every 3 years. In 2018 the course will take place on 1 March.

A Radioprotection Refresher Course for Bone Densitometry Users is offered yearly as a 2 hrs pre-symposium programme. For the prolongation of the permission by FANC / AFCN to perform bone densitometry with DXA, 1 hour within 5 years is minimally required. Next to the FANC / AFCN requirements, the course addresses technical and clinical aspects of DXA and vertebral fracture assessment.

Since 2017 a Pre-Symposium Course on Rare Bone Diseases is presented. There is a clear need to spread general knowledge about rare diseases throughout the medical community. The course intends to provide general information on various rare bone diseases to bone interested second-line clinicians and is also intended to be an educational and exchange platform for dedicated bone specialists.

After the success of the previous symposia we are pleased to invite you to the 2018 event.

We look forward to meeting you at the 2018 Bone Curriculum Symposium!

With best regards,

On behalf of the KBVR / SRBR Osteoporosis and Fracture Prevention Group
